Broomleigh make a splash for local hospice

Broomleigh Housing Association Chief Executive, Neil McCall, rolled up his shirt sleeves last week to raise funds for Demelza House Childrens’ Hospice.

Taking part in a charity car wash at the housing association’s offices in Masons Hill, Neil was joined by other Broomleigh senior staff members along with Ross Green, Partnering Business Manager for contractors, Osborne.

Broomleigh’s property services and service contract teams came up with idea of getting their partner contractors to bid to have their vans washed by Neil on the mornings of 1 and 2 February.  Osborne’s winning bid of £300 was doubled when they decided it was worth seeing Ross wash one of their vans as well.

Pledges were also received from other Broomleigh partner contractors, including the Apollo Group, Swale Heating Limited and Rydon Property Maintenance, bringing the total before any car washing to £1325.00.   Communal heating contractor, Kestrel Mechanical, also provided a 60 metre hose to ensure a high standard of service.

Commenting on the fundraising activity, Neil McCall said: “Each year the people who work for Broomleigh and it’s partners raise over £15,000 for the Demelza Children’s Hospice”

Further funding was achieved by asking all staff who park at Maple House to make a donation of £1.00 as they arrived for work.   Employees wishing to dig deeper into their pockets also had their cars washed, with donations of either £5.00 or £10.00, depending on which of their colleagues they chose to see with a bucket and sponge.

The sponsored car wash was the latest of many fundraising activities undertaken by Broomleigh to raise funds for Demelza House.   The total amount raised was £1890.00 and the team managed to wash six vans, three 4 x 4s and 55 cars.
