Community flat boost for residents

Residents in Hackington have been celebrating the launch of a new community facility.

A two bedroom flat in Hackington Crescent, converted by housing provider Broomleigh into a Community flat, was officially opened on Friday (2nd March) by MP Jacqui Lait and Broomleigh's Chief Executive, Neil McCall.

The new facility will play host to a range of weekly services including a drop-in police surgery with the Copers Cope Safer Neighbourhood Team, an internet café and a tenant and leaseholder surgery, Bromley Victim Support, the Antisocial Behaviour Unit and Bromley Advocacy Project will also be on hand at the community flat.

The project has been launched with the help of funding from the Safer Bromley Partnership.

Liz Chambers, antisocial behaviour team leader for Broomleigh said: "The opening of the community flat is the latest of a number of initiatives that have helped to improve Hackington.

"We've been working in partnership with residents and external agencies to successfully tackle anti-social behaviour.  CCTV has recently been installed and a clean-up day last year was a huge success.
"The new Community Flat will provide an excellent boost for local residents, offering help and advice, right on their doorstep."

At the opening event residents were invited to view the new facilities and chat to some of the agencies who will be providing services there. The launch also provided an opportunity for residents to look back on a year of success, with photos on display to illustrate the past year's achievements.

Broomleigh's tough action against antisocial behaviour has led to the eviction of five offending families, two Antisocial Behaviour Orders and five Acceptable Behaviour Commitments.
