Vandals steal the pride from proud place
Broomleigh Housing Association and the Safer Bromley Partnership are appealing for information to track down the vandals who ruined a children’s playground.
Proud Place Community Garden in Mottingham has had to be closed for safety reasons following the attack on this valuable local asset. The soft tarmac surface had been torn up leaving the children at risk from injury should they fall.
In December 2003 a joint initiative enabled Broomleigh and the London Borough of Bromley to create a play area for the local community. It is very popular with young children and teenagers enabling them some space of their own. The play area comprises of a youth shelter, a multi-sport surface, a planted garden area and play equipment such as swings and springers. Benches and picnic tables are also available for those who wish to sit down
“This act of vandalism is not acceptable and prevents the local children and residents enjoying the playground,” said Broomleigh’s Housing Officer, Babatunde Osomo.
“Broomleigh is working in partnership with the local councillors, police, Broomleigh’s Tenancy Enforcement and Support Team and Housing Officers to resolve this problem,” she added.
If you have any information at all about the incident, please contact Broomleigh Housing Association on 020 8313 3310 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
Broomleigh has now re-opened the playground.
