Housing Corporation Chairman opens new key worker accommodation in Peckham
Peter Dixon, Chairman of the Housing Corporation opened Broomleigh's new key worker scheme, Hanover Park, in Peckham, London on Thursday, 9 June 2005, along with Simon Randall, Broomleigh Chairman; Neil McCall, Broomleigh Chief Executive and Michael Griffin, Director of Human Resources, King's College NHS Trust.
Hanover Park was developed in partnership with King's College Hospitals NHS Trust and South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and benefitted from Housing Corporation Challenge funding of £1.28m. The scheme was designed by Alan Camp Architects and comprises 154 apartments, built in four blocks of differing heights located around a central glazed access walkway. Attracting much interest locally, a unique feature of the development is the sculpture, 'Swordfish Masquerade' situated at the front entrance. Sculpted by Sokari Douglas Camp, it was inspired by Kalabari traditional performers from the Niger Delta.
The scheme was completed in just over two years by developers, The Purelake Group, through the incorporat ion of modern methods of construction including prefabricated bathroom and service pods as well as lightweight steel frame walls.
