about us
Helping to build better lives... through secure and affordable homes; stronger communities; improved education opportunities; involvement in decision making; access to good services and an enhanced quality of life.
- Broomleigh Housing Association was formed in April 1992, when after a successful ballot of London Borough of Bromley tenants and leaseholders, the Council transferred its entire housing stock (14,000) to a new organisation, Broomleigh Housing Association. Broomleigh is now part of Affinity Sutton, one of the largest independant providers of housing in England. We have:
- Exceeded the promises we made to our tenants at the time of transfer in terms of rent guarantee and investment in their properties. Already, more than £140 million has been spent on major repairs/improvements and day-to-day repairs.
- Became financially the strongest of all the large-scale voluntary transfer associations. We have an annual turnover of some £47 million and were the first housing association to receive an A- credit rating from Standard and Poors, ranking us alongside some of Britain's best known businesses.
- Developed more than 1,000 new homes with support from key partners such as the Bromley and Croydon Councils, while creating development and regeneration strategies that are more than just bricks and mortar solutions.
- Developed a strong commitment to improving the quality of life in local communities, particularly in our regeneration work, through forming strong links with local councils and key partners such as the Police, Probation Service and local colleges. We also provide financial support to local voluntary agencies such as the Bromley Race Equality Council.
Formed a very positive relationship with the Federation of Broomleigh Residents, the umbrella body established to promote resident participation. To support the Federation in this critical role we also provide financial support.
